"It's not that the colors aren't there
It's just imagination they lack
Everything's the same
Back in my little town"
That song has been one of my favourites since I first heard it, although the 'little town' referred to is probably on the East Coast. And my little town is Redding, CA.
So, you can imagine that I found this SFGate/Chronicle article rather interesing -- Walking Bridge that Soars. They hope, someday, that the bridge will become a tourist attraction, I suppose, and it really is a beautiful bridge.

Someday, I'd like to see Redding be a bit less conservative. Someday I'd like to see Redding be home to the eleventh UC. But in the meantime, this bridge might mean we're serious about being a destination, and that would be good.
Anyway, I'm off to the coast for the Fourth of July, when I get back, I'll regal you with the story of how I spent a night and a day in a parking lot just to get the chance to meet Bill Clinton -- even if it was only for five seconds.
