From the "Holy #!@%" department...
Have the right wing no shame? Nor sense? Certainly they have no loyalty to this country, as shown by the actions (and inactions) taken by so-called conservatives regarding the intentional undermining of the United States' security by the Bush White House.
Now Novak, having apparently not learned that subverting your own country's defense against terrorist nukes for nothing more than a few points in the game of partisan politics is generally considered a Bad Thing[tm], has went and done it again.
The Washington Post article on this is incredibly lame, barely mentioning that Novak leaked this information. Instead, it concentrates on the meme Novak intended to spread: that Wilson's wife donated money to Gore's campaign. To the Republican partisans in control of the media, supporting the Democrats is apparently somehow supposed to make somebody willing to undermine the United States' security and therefore untrustworthy because they would subvert their own country's defense... wait a minute.
As I've noted on more than one occasion, one of the Republican Party's favourite tricks is to accuse their opponents of being what they themselves are. Ambassador Wilson came back from Africa with facts. Since the facts aren't what the Republicans want to hear, they're calling him a Democrat. That doesn't change the facts.
As for the WaPost story, it fails to adequately note that:
This time around, Novak is protecting his sources from prosecution by refusing to mention them. No anonymous "senior administration officials", just the bare allegations without a source. This further confirms that he has no loyalty to the United States, only to the Republican Party.
Can you imagine if Sherman Austin had done this?
